Owned and operated by the City of Kelowna, the Glenmore Landfill serves as the only active landfill for the Central Okanagan.
Location: 2710 - 2720 John Hindle Drive (access off of Glenmore Road North)
Open: Daily from 7:30 am to 4:45. Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day
Please be advised that we are only accepting non-cash paymentsat the Glenmore Landfill scale house to help streamline services and reduce the chances of spreading COVID-19 to both staff and customers until further notice.
In addition, bird watching activities at the landfill have been suspended. This is in solidarity with public health efforts across British Columbia to limit gatherings in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Materials Banned from Burial
There are certain materials that are banned from being buried at the Glenmore landfill, either because there are alternative disposal programs in place for them, or because they are hazardous to workers and the public. Banned items mixed in with other garbage sent for burial at the landfill are subject to a $150 per metric tonne surcharge over and above regular tipping fees.
The following items must be recycled:
- All scrap metal (accepted at the Glenmore Landfill but must be separated)
- Household Hazardous Wastes (paints, solvents, oil, pesticides, cleaners etc.) - Disposal Options
- Asphalt & Concrete – (accepted at the Glenmore Landfill but must be separated)
- Asphalt Shingles - (accepted at the Glenmore Landfill but must be separated) Effective Jan. 1, 2018
- All Recyclables including paper, newspaper, cardboard, boxboard, plastic containers and tin cans.
- Refundable beverage containers
- Electronics and Computers (stereos, TV's, monitors etc.)
- Small Appliances (anything with a battery or plugs into the wall) and Power Tools (such as saws and drills)
- Outdoor Power Equipment (such as lawn mowers and trimmers)
- Batteries
- Tires (accepted at the Glenmore Landfill but must be separated)
- Light bulbs and light fixtures
- Yard Waste (accepted at the Glenmore Landfill but must be separated)
- Large Appliances (accepted at the Glenmore Landfill but must be separated)
- Drywall/Gypsum - MUST BE RECYCLED. Special bins are located at landfill sites for Drywall/Gypsum
