Senior Safety & Security - Frauds & Scams

Seniors are often victims of Cons and Frauds because seniors are often stereotyped as being:

  • weak & frail
  • individuals who always carry lots of cash with them
  • easy targets

Crime Prevention is mostly a matter of awareness. Most crimes take advantage of opportunity. Reducing or removing the opportunity, reduces the possibility of becoming a victim.

Your Regional District of Central Okanagan Crime Prevention Coordinator can assist Seniors from becoming victimized through educational/awareness seminars geared at:

  • Safety on the Street
  • Safety in the Home
  • Cons & Frauds

Please contact the Crime Prevention Coordinator at 250-707-8021 or Email crime.prevention@shaw.ca.

Community Police Offices throughout the Central Okanagan also offer a special program to ensure the safety of seniors. Click on the link if you'd like to learn more about the Seniors Contact Program and who qualifies for participation in it.
