The system services the Joe Rich Fire Hall and Community Hall and Park.
The system is located approximately 14 km east of Kelowna, BC at 11481 Highway 33 East within Joe Rich and Central Okanagan East Electoral Area.
The Joe Rich Water System is sourced from Joe Rich Creek.
The Joe Rich Water System was constructed in 1978 and has one reservoir and pressure zone. The water system utilizes a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, which allows for remote system monitoring.
The method of treatment is filtration, chlorine and UV disinfection.
A long standing Boil Water Notice is planned to be removed in 2018. Water Quality Advisories are occasionally issued during high turbidity events, sometimes caused by spring freshet or other disturbances in the source water.
The water system includes the following reservoir:
- Joe Rich Reservoir – 130 m3 dual cell concrete reservoir.
The system includes approximately 100 metres of watermain which supplies the fire hydrant prior to treatment and domestic use.
Plans for Future Upgrades
No major upgrades are planned at this time.
The water system is owned and operated by the RDCO.
