Yard Waste - Free Year Round Drop Off
Central Okanagan residents can drop off their yard waste and prunings, up to 20
cm (8 inches) in diameter, and weighing less than 250 kg (550 lb) free-of-charge
year round at local landfills! This includes grass, leaves, pine needles
and cones, windfall fruit and garden plants.

up to 8 cm. diameter
weighing more than 250 kg
is charged $40/tonne, regardless of origin
(starting
January 1st, 2012).
Yard waste and pruning
larger than 8 cm.
diameter weighing more
than 250 kg. is charged
$65/tonne (starting January 1st,
2012).
Please note that the District of Peachland only accepts prunings up to 10 cm (4
inches) at its site (Peachland

So any time you are working in your yard or mowing your lawn, bag or box your trimmings
and drive them down to the local landfill. Landfill staff will help direct you to
the large compost pile, where you can dump (debagging if necessary) your yard waste.
Not only does this save your tax dollars, but all the materials are composted and
used to enhance local parks.
Hey, you might even meet your neighbor there! As you will see, this is a very popular
program; the yard waste pile is huge!
