On Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008, the Regional District Waste
Reduction Office and its partners kicked off Community Clean Up
month by staging the 2nd annual
20 Minute
Community Makeover! A record number of neighbourhood groups,
schools, residents, business and community leaders spent 20
minutes cleaning the street, sweeping
the sidewalk or picking up litter from the front of their business,
school or home. The Regional Waste Reduction Office
provided the trash
collection bags, gloves and arranged the pick up of the bags
after the event. But that's just the start as April is
Community Clean Up Month!
Community Clean Up Any Time Of The Year!
Are you looking for a fun, quick way to make a difference in the community? Maybe you need school community hours? Do you need an activity for your next block party or a project for your family? This year, why not volunteer to clean up litter in your park, neighbourhood, or roadway?
Its so easy: simply register, choose an area to clean, pick up the litter and call us when you're done. We supply the garbage bags,
gloves and other safety equipment. After you are done, we pick
up the bags and take them to the landfill. Anyone can participate, any time of the year!
In addition to the good feeling you'll get from doing something for your community, your group will get recognition in the form of press releases announcing your clean-up.
To register your group for the Community Clean Up simply
email the Regional Waste Reduction Office (recycle@cord.bc.ca)
or call at
469-6250.
