Garbage - Residential

Who Participates

Municipal or regional government provides garbage collection service to most single-family homes within the City of Kelowna, Regional District and the Districts of Peachland, Lake Country and West Kelowna.  Residents on Westbank First Nation Reserves #9 and #10 or Okanagan First nation Duck Lake Reserve #7 follow this link for information.

Apartment buildings and condominiums are required to provide their own waste collection system.  If you live in a strata townhouse complex or mobile home park, your manager or strata council will have details regarding your waste collection system.  Residents near Trader's Cove and along North Westside Road use waste transfer stations (Information Link).

The following information applies to residents receiving municipal waste collection only.

Regulations

Schedule

To determine your garbage collection day, view a map of your area, contact the waste hauler for your area, or call the Regional Waste Reduction Office at 250-469-6250.  You may also use the website online map system to determine your regular curbside garbage and recycling collection day.  Follow the link to the RDCO Web Maps and follow the directions.

Holiday Schedule

There will be no garbage collection on Friday, December 25, 2009 and Friday, January 1, 2010.  As a result, garbage collection that would normally occur on Friday, December 25th will instead take place on Saturday, December 26th and garbage collection normally scheduled for Friday, January 1st, will be picked up on Saturday, January 2nd.

Garbage collection service remains the same for any other statutory holidays throughout the year (Easter, Thanksgiving, Canada Day, etc).

Missed Garbage

If your garbage wasn't picked up on your collection day, contact OK Environmental Waste Systems, (250) 868-3211.
