One of the fastest growing areas in the province, the Central Okanagan is home to over 160,000 residents and is expected to grow to 225,000 by the year 2025. The Regional District of Central Okanagan is made up of towns and cities as well as areas that are not part of a municipality. Issues such as water and air resources, governance, transportation, housing, and economic development are common to the Central Okanagan as a whole regardless of local municipal and administrative boundaries.
The development of Regional plans and strategies involves the efforts of the City of Kelowna, the District of Lake Country, the District of Peachland, the Regional District of Central Okanagan, and several Provincial Ministries. Many organizations such as the Irrigation Districts, the School District, the Interior Health Region, First Nations, Ministry of Transportation, and the Land Commission contribute their valuable expertise.
Staff at the Regional District Planning Services Department would be pleased to answer any questions you may have about these Regional initiatives.
