Okanagan Centre Safe Harbour

Public Notice:  January 6th - the new south viewing/recreational pier is complete and will be accessible when once the fence is removed the week of January 9th.  By Friday, January 13th, the decking will be complete along the final end section of the amended and approved lower courtesy dock on the north side of the boat launch.  Wooden ladders will also be installed from this section down to the water.  The District of Lake Country will host a public forum on Friday, January 13th from 7-9pm at the Okanagan Centre Community Hall regarding the regional park project.  View District of Lake Country News Release

Features and Things To Do:

Okanagan Centre Safe Harbour provides safety for boaters during a storm with one of the only safe harbours in the area. The harbour contains two docks for emergency and pedestrian use, a small swimming beach and a boat launch. 

General Information:

Okanagan Centre Safe Harbour is 1.71 acres on Okanagan Centre Road in Lake Country. It is open year round and has washroom facilities.

Dogs must be kept on a leash within park boundaries and owners should clean up after their pets. Overnight camping, open fires and smoking are not permitted.

From May 1st through September 30th, the gate will be closed nightly at 10:00 pm and unlocked at 5:00 am each day.  Information is posted in the parking area for anyone locked behind the gate after hours on how to get their vehicle released.  Boaters in need of refuge or any other emergency are able to access the Safe Harbour at any time.  From October 1st through April 30th the gate is not locked.

Directions:

Okanagan Centre Road in Lake Country. From Highway 97 driving north, turn left on Glenmore at the Beaver Lake/ Glenmore / Highway 97 intersection. Follow Glenmore as it turns left then turn right on Okanagan Centre Road W. Follow to the boom of the hill and until you see the harbour.
