Water Systems

The Regional District administers five water distribution systems. These vary in size with the smallest system encompassing eight properties and the largest system encompassing over 700 properties. See table below.

The regulations for the management of the water distribution systems and the terms and conditions under which water services may be provided are set out in Bylaw 1268.   User fees and maintenance fees vary according to the number of users and the maintenance required for each particular system.   Fees are set under the Regional District of Central Okanagan Water Systems Bylaw No. 1268.   The bylaw is provided for convenience only and is not to be considered the legal document. Please consult the official version of the bylaw to ensure accuracy.

Interior Health Turbidity Education and Notification
In the spring of 2006, Interior Health and unfiltered surface water systems serving more than 300 connections introduced the Turbidity Education and Notification Campaign to:  inform customers that health risks increase as turbidity rises (particularly for at-risk populations such as children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems); and to notify customers of turbidity levels higher than 1 NTU as recommended in the federal Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality.  Link to Fact Sheet and Interior Health Spring 2006 Newsletter.
