Seniors Safety & Security - Frauds & Scams
Seniors are often victims of Cons and Frauds because seniors are often stereotyped
as being:
- weak & frail
- individuals who always carry lots of cash with them
- easy targets
Crime Prevention is mostly a matter of awareness. Most crimes take advantage of
opportunity. Reducing or removing the opportunity, reduces the possibility of becoming
a victim.
Your Regional District of Central Okanagan Crime Prevention Coordinator can assist
Seniors from becoming victimized through educational/awareness seminars geared at:
- Safety on the Street
- Safety in the Home
- Cons & Frauds
Please contact the Crime Prevention Coordinator at
250-707-8021 or E-mail
crimeprevention@shaw.ca.
Community Police Offices throughout the Central Okanagan also offer a special program
to ensure the safety of seniors. If youd like to learn more about the
Seniors Contact Program click on the link to view information about the
program and who qualifies for participation in it.
