What We Do
The Regional Emergency Plan is coordinated by the City of Kelowna Fire Department on behalf of the Regional District, the City of Kelowna, the District of Lake Country and the District of Peachland. The Plan makes provisions for the community in the event of any emergency such as flooding, forest fires, airplane crashes or other catastrophes.
Officials from each member municipality, including the Regional District, RCMP, fire departments, BC Ambulance, Interior Health Authority, School District 23, public works, transportation, communications and emergency social services volunteers meet and practice the plan, which also includes activating the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in the main Kelowna fire hall.
The plan also provides guidelines for recovery operations after any emergency or disaster ends.
