Who Can Vote?

Electoral Area Director Election
Resident Electors (qualified electors who are residents,
dependents and renters living within the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area Boundary,
including qualified electors within Westbank First Nation Reserves #9 and #10)
Non-Resident Property Electors (qualified electors
who own property within the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area Boundary but do
not live within the boundary)
Residents on First Nation Lands (are
eligible to vote in this election for Electoral Area Director. Please see

Renters (see Resident Electors)
Resident Electors
(Resident Electors refers to QUALIFIED ELECTORS who live in the Central Okanagan
West Electoral Area Boundary, including residents, dependents and tenants of rental
properties and those qualified electors within Westbank First Nation Reserves #9
and #10.)
You may vote in the election for one Electoral Area Director on Saturday, November
15th, 2008 as a Resident Elector if you meet all of the following
criteria:

You are a Canadian citizen; AND
-
You are at least 18 years of age, as of the date that you vote; AND
-
You have lived in BC for at least six months immediately before you register to
vote; AND
-
You have lived within the Electoral Area Boundary for at least 30 days immediately
before you register to vote; AND
-
You are not disqualified from voting because you:
Please be aware that in order to vote, Resident Electors MUST produce two pieces
of identification to the election staff at the voting place. For information

Non-Resident Property Electors
You may vote in the Electoral Area Director election on Saturday, November 15th,
2008, as a Non-Resident Property Elector (a person who owns property within
the Electoral Area Boundary, but does not lives there) if you meet all of the following
criteria:
-
You are NOT a Resident Elector of the Electoral Area; AND
-
You are a Canadian citizen; AND
-
You are at least 18 years of age, as of the date you vote; AND
-
You have lived in BC for at least six months immediately before you register to
vote; AND
-
You have owned property within the Electoral Area for at least 30 days immediately
before you register to vote; AND
-
You have been authorized in writing by the other owner (s) of the property as the
Non-Resident Property Elector for that property; AND
-
You are not disqualified from voting because you:
How to Register to Vote as a Non-Resident Property Elector
On voting day, Non-Resident Property Electors must apply to vote in the Electoral
Area at the voting place of their choice by providing the following information:
-
a legal description of the real property; AND
-
proof that you own the property or are one of the owners on title of the property;
AND IF APPLICABLE
-
a consent form signed by the majority of the other owners on title of the property
designating you as the owner that will vote on their behalf.
Only one individual may register to vote in relation to the real property, no matter
how many owners are on title. If you own two pieces of property in one Electoral
Area, you may only vote once. If you own property along with a corporation,
then NONE OF THE OWNERS of the property is eligible to vote.
As is required of Resident Electors, you will also be required to produce acceptable
