What We Do

Managing the daily affairs of the Regional District involves staff and management
working closely with the Regional Board and community partners to coordinate the
delivery of a wide range of functions and services. From garbage collection and
recycling to Regional Parks, the Regional District represents the collective interests
of the community to provide services to a broad population. Programs such as the
911service and the Regional Emergency Response Plan are provided to the unincorporated
electoral areas of Central Okanagan East
and Central Okanagan
West,
as well as to the member municipalities of Kelowna,
West Kelowna, Peachland and Lake Country within
the boundaries of the Regional District. Land Use Planning, Building Inspections
and Sewer and Water services are among the myriad of services provided to residents
living in the two Electoral Areas.
Decisions are made by the Regional Board, which is comprised of elected and appointed
representatives from the Central Okanagan.

As a regional form of local government, the Regional District operates under the
laws of the Local Government Act, which lays out strict regulations about how local
governments can conduct their business. Procedures about voting, bylaws, even certain
types of public meetings are clearly defined. Click on this link to the Province
of BC website and view the
