The Regional Board meets in a regular session once a month, managing the wide range of issues that arise as part of local governance. The 12 member Board represents the two electoral areas of the Regional District (Central Okanagan East and Central Okanagan West) and the member municipalities of Kelowna, Peachland, Lake Country and Westside. Every three years, two Directors are elected: one to represent the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area and one representing the residents of the Central Okanagan East Electoral Area. Based on population, the City of Kelowna appoints six representatives to the Regional Board from among its elected Council members. The Westside District Municipality appoints two representatives to the Regional Board from among its elected Councilors. The District of Lake Country and the District of Peachland each appoint one of their Council members to the Regional Board. (Detailed Map)
In 2006, the Regional Board commissioned former Administrator A. T. Harrison to chronicle a history of the Regional District of Central Okanagan. In early 2007, the Board received the 64-page work titled: 'A Look Into The Past - A Historical Review 1967 - 2006'
